Shantel Dixon

AVID, a nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness, is proud to announce that Shantel Dixon has been recognized as the Educator of the Week. AVID's CEO, Thuan Nguyen, took to social media to celebrate the impact of educators and highlight Shantel's remarkable journey.

Shantel Dixon's story is one of inspiration and dedication. As an AVID student, AVID tutor, and now an Assistant Principal, she has exemplified the values and mission of AVID. Today, AVID shines a spotlight on Shantel, an amazing AVID alum, who continues to go the extra mile for her students.

One of the remarkable achievements that sets Shantel apart is her #GradPact with her very first class of AVID students. This summer, she embarked on a journey across six different states, attending every college graduation she could get to, alongside her original AVID Elective students. A total of 52 students, united by their AVID experience, supporting and celebrating each other's success. This is not just a classroom; it is a family. It embodies the true spirit of #AVIDFamily.

Shantel's dedication to her students and her commitment to their dreams is truly incredible. She has not only taught them academic lessons but also imparted invaluable lessons about unity, support, and the power of possibility. Shantel's impact as an educator extends far beyond the classroom, inspiring her students and everyone around her.

AVID acknowledges Shantel Dixon's unwavering dedication and the positive influence she has on her students. Her journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of education. AVID is grateful for everything Shantel does and the inspiration she provides to educators across the nation.
